How to Install an Operating System ISO with an USB flash drive

What you will need

1. A USB drive
2. An OS ISO of your choice
3. A computer with rufus installed
4. A computer/server to install the selected OS onto

Rufus

1. Launch Rufus and select the USB drive you would like to use (make sure the drive is plugged in correctly)
2. Under the select menu pick the ISO you would like to use
3. Under partition scheme select either GPT or MBR
   • As a rule of thumb, us MBR for drives of 2 TB or less, use GPT for 2 TB or more
4. Click start and wait till Rufus finishes.
5. Remove the drive and follow the instructions for installing below

Installing

1. Plug in the USB into the machine
2. Power on/reboot the machine
3. If the machine doesn’t boot from the USB for install, then reboot the machine and enter either BIOS or boot manager (short guide below)
4. Follow the instructions prompted on screen until the OS is installed
5. Once installed you may remove the USB and enjoy your freshly installed Operating System.

BIOS USB launching

1. To boot into your motherboards BIOS press either “delete” or “F2” while booting the computer (Note: These keys are most common, it is possible to have a different key to enter BIOS)
2. Once in the bios look for the setting either boot priority or boot override, then select the installed USB (save and reboot the machine if needed)
3. You should now be booted into the OS Installation. If you are having trouble with your BIOS consider looking at your motherboard's user manual.
